This complete sport combining strength, tone and flexibility is good for both body and mind. Much like the via ferrata above the Aveyron river, rock climbing helps you keep your cool and manage stress through the control of height and concentration. Let yourself be guided amidst the varied and magnificent landscapes of the Aveyron gorges. Steep cliffs, gorges, caves and rugged peaks offer you routes suitable for everyone!

As with the Via ferrata near the Aveyron, there is something for every taste and every level, from grade 4 to 9. Several spots await you, including Le Roc d’Anglars which faces the campsite in Tarn-et-Garonne.
For beginners, go through our guide; they will provide you with equipment and supervision. Courses or simply half-day or full-day outings are available.

For thrill-seekers and challenge lovers, Tarn-et-Garonne is a true paradise. Indeed, they can mix and match the various climbing spots available on site. It is a sensational way to contemplate the mountain landscapes.

Before setting off on an adventure, remember to book a stay at the campsite in Aveyron. It is a great starting point from which you can reach the 5 climbing sites that we are going to list for you.

This spot is ideal for rock climbing in summer. Located in the middle of a magnificent patch of greenery, Le Couyrac is suitable for intermediate climbers. This makes it an accessible climbing spot for all holidaymakers.

With a height of 10 to 70 meters, the cliff is made up of three parts. On the right, you will find the oldest routes with a height of about thirty meters in the fifth grade.

The second part is in the center and includes a good dozen routes. Levels range from 6b to 7b+. Just to the left, you will find the last part with its thirty or so routes. It reaches a height of nearly 25 meters.

As for La Croix climbing site, it reaches a height between 15 and 80 meters. Facing west, it features easy-to-climb routes from grade 4 to 7a. The biggest thrill-seekers can have fun on routes ranging from 7b, 7c to 8a.

To the left of these magnificent cliffs, you can access a higher level of difficulty. A good fifteen routes await you. In summer, you will need to set off early in the morning to avoid the intense afternoon sun. In this sector, climbing is ideal in autumn and on cloudy days.

With a height between 10 and 20 meters, La Madeleine is the newest sector in the Aveyron gorges. There are a good dozen routes you can access.

Among the best-known grade 7a circuits is “les Vertus du Vice”. Climbing specialists recommend visiting La Madeleine in autumn. Indeed, you will be able to enjoy all orientations and faces, whatever your preferences.

This sector reaches a height between 30 and 80 meters. It consists of more than 150 lines, giving you a wide choice of routes (between grade 4 and 8b+). The base of Roc d’Anglars features smooth slopes offering very little grip. Therefore, before tackling them, it is advisable to get used to the sensation.

To fully enjoy Roc d’Anglars, it is recommended to visit in autumn. Here again, just like the previous climbing sites, you can enjoy all faces and orientations.
